Tirupati Balaji Temple, Andhra Pradesh

The temple on the seven hills of Tirumala in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India is the second richest holy shrine in the world. The temple is famously known as Tirumala Tirupati Balaji temple. The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Balaji. It is believed that the deity of Lord Balaji in this temple is self-manifested and will continue to receive worship till the end of Kali Yuga.
Once sage Bhrigu was entrusted with the task of finding out the greatest amongst the Hindu Triad. The sage visited Brahmalok, Kailash and then left for Vaikuntha upon not receiving a proper welcome from Lord Brahma and Lord Shiva. Lord Vishnu was in deep sleep and did not notice the arrival of the sage. This angered the sage and he kicked on the divine chest of Lord Vishnu which is the abode of Goddess Lakshmi. Lord Vishnu apologized for not having noticed the sage. Feeling deeply insulted by the behaviour of the sage and the apology of Lord Vishnu, Goddess Lakshmi left Vaikuntha and came down to earth to meditate. Lord Vishnu too left Vaikuntha and came down to earth. In this process, Lord Vishnu (who is now known as Balaji) marries Padmavathi (who was Vedavati in her previous birth and was promised marriage with Lord Vishnu) and makes the divine hills of Tirumala His abode. Goddess Lakshmi too returns to Him and makes Tirumala as Her abode.
Lord Venkateshwara (Lord Balaji) accompanied by Goddess Padmavathi and Goddess Lakshmi blesses lakhs of devotees throughout the year from the seven hills of Tirumala.
